Response to school bus accident

Solidarity statement with injured workers in recent school bus accident

Excerpt:

We as parents and advocates wish to express our deep concern for the 37 school bus drivers and attendants injured in a highway accident on July 21, 2022, and for their families, co-workers at Consolidated Bus, and their union ATU 1181-1061. Around sunrise that day, these employees were on their way to transport New York City students with disabilities who are legally mandated to receive instruction and therapies for six weeks in the summertime.

It should not take a terrible accident to call attention to the crisis of school busing and the shortage of qualified staff.
