Women’s History Month/ Disability Acceptance Month Tribute to fighters for Transit Equity, with PIST & friends
Hosted by LEAPS, Limited Equity & Affordability at Penn South
2:00 - 5:00 p.m. inside 339 West 24th Street, New York, NY 10011 ground floor

PROGRAM WILL INCLUDE:
Storyteller Thelma Ruffin Thomas, Pearls of Wisdom
on Rosa Parks and some lesser known women in history
Short film "School Bus Bill of Rights" with ASL captions
+ update by Parents to Improve School Transportation about the fight for fair access to school bus service (or free Metrocards) for students of any ability or housing status.
Presentation of Certificates of Appreciation
to busy mothers & others who add their energy and skills to this fight!
*Within this portion of the program we will also learn from youth who ride the yellow bus*
Update from members of
Borough Response Teams to welcome asylum seekers to NYC public schools
Impact of top-down Transit planning on local Housing needs
Take-home refreshments, since MASKS are required by the venue
Volunteers needed for setup, food prep, and cleanup

Venue is between 8th & 9th Avenues on the north side of 24th Street, ground floor. Look for the sign over the door that says 2B Community Room.
[Bus] The nearest bus stops (accessible) are:
a) the M23 crosstown SBS at 23rd and 9th Ave or 8th Ave. You need a ticket from the machine.
b) the downtown M11 on 9th Ave just below 23rd St. You can use a metrocard.
c) the uptown M20 on 8th Ave just above 25th St (due to construction on 23rd). You can use a metrocard. ……………………………………….
[6 train] The 23rd St. stop on the uptown & downtown 6 train is accessible. It leaves you near the Park Avenue and 23rd stop of the crosstown M23 SBS. Catch it Westbound. ……………………………………….
[Express Bus] Various lines stop near 23rd & Madison Av, where you can catch the Westbound M23.
[1, 2 trains] A nearby but not accessible station is 23rd St on the 7th Ave line. On the weekend,
the 1 train is expected to run normally uptown & downtown,

[A, C, E trains] 23rd St/8th Ave. station is very close However, on the weekend of this event:
Downtown C and E trains are skipping 23rd Street. MTA advises going to 14th Street (accessible) and either use the elevator to go to the street OR change to the uptown C or E on the opposite platform. The elevators to do this are toward the middle of each platform but closer to the 14th street end.
Uptown C and E will stop at 23rd. There are exits at 23, 24, and 25. Cross the avenue, cross the street, and continue along the curved sidewalk past the playground.……………………………………….
[F, M and PATH trains] non accessible 23rd St station leaves you at 6th Ave (Ave of the Americas) ……………………………………….
The LIRR goes to Moynihan Penn Station, 31st St and 8th Avenue, a short walk from the venue. ……………………………………….
Other: There are CitiBike stands on 24th St. at 7th Ave; 26th St at 8th Ave.
