Committee on People With Disabilities of CWA local 1180 monthly meeting in person & virtual.
Wednesday March 5 at 6:00 PM [but register by 3/3 at 3 pm] 6 Harrison St., 3rd floor conference room, , downtown Manhattan
PIST is on the agenda! Please inform anyone you know in that union, Communication Workers of America. They’ve been supportive ever since we began talking about a School Bus Bill of Rights in 2011.
Ethnically diverse group of 2 men giving a thumbs up sign and 5 women smiling stand behind a table facing the camera. Behind them on the center of the wall is a large monitor with the gallery of virtual participants. On each side of the screen is a red square with white logo of Communication Workers of American local 1180, New York Administrative Employees. Taken after meeting ended, so various others who had participated are not pictured.

Next meeting April 2nd.

We have begun to Lobby for school bus EPP bill S 1018 (sponsored by Senators Robert Jackson and Jessica Ramos).
—> The flyer we gave to the legislators is at tinyurl.com/WhyS1018<—
https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2025/S1018 This bill protects school bus workers' wages and benefits during transitions between employers in cities with populations above 1 million. It additionally prioritizes the hiring of experienced school bus drivers to ensure high safety standards for students.
The United Federation of Teachers is sponsoring buses from all 5 boroughs and parents are invited (or you can drive). It’s a chance to speak up for greater student transportation and for vital NYC school budget items that matter to students. Click above in the center for the flyer in English.
