Every year December 3 is marked by the United Nations and others as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).

Following are 2 IDPD events that PIST knows of and will attend this year.

 

Friday December 1 UN commemoration of International Day of Persons with Disabilitie

This year’s theme: "United in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with and by persons with disabilities."

The discussion will be structured around five pillars of sustainable development – People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnerships

In person event 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern, UN HQ conference room 4 by invitation

  • Show solidarity with Disabled people around the world, like those under siege in Gaza

  • Denounce the Israeli regime’s disregard of Security Council Resolution 2475 and Article 11 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD)

  • Demand funding for Special Education and Comprehensive Healthcare, not warfare!

  • Meet Disability access activists and others who are connecting these human rights issues
