NYC Citywide and Community #education council elections continue through May 9.

Vote for each schoolchild in your home to be represented in all relevant categories. Thanks to parent #advocacy, every council also gets a D75 rep.

Leading up to our Saturday celebration, there are several virtual workshops — including on NYC school bus data and on supposed plans for school bus GPS — plus some in person lobbying and hearings, and a half day for certain students. Stay informed!

Events this week include a PIST virtual Know Your Rights workshop;

a CCD75 Safety Committee online presentation on Steps to Independence in travel;

a CCSE in person town hall with NYCDOE Chancellor

Saturday February 4, noon to 2 p.m. Eastern time— Community panel for national TRANSIT EQUITY Day of Action in honor of the birthday of late Civil Rights activist Rosa Parks.

This will be an exciting gathering in person in a Co-op City, Bronx school, with a livestream on youtube.

PIST is planning a Global DJ Mix-a-Thon on Friday Dec 2 from 10 a.m. to midnight. We begin with an outdoor event across from the United Nations in Dag Hammerskjold Park featuring DJ Crystal Clear and hosted by DJ Karamel. Then they will move the party online, where other talented DJs in various locations and time zones will play music to honor our children and support the fight for a School Bus Bill of Rights.

Joint hearing of the NY City Council Education Committee and Oversight & Investigation Committee on School Bus Transportation Service starts at 10 a.m. People can testify in person at City Hall or on Zoom.

We spent Saturdays in October meeting wonderful students, parents and other caregivers, school staff and advocates across the boroughs.

Residents of Rockaway gather with other activists for mass transit to connect the borough of Queens with rail lines that were planned years ago and have never come true. PIST volunteer from the neighborhood gave a message emphasizing how long it takes students who live in the borough to get from home to school.

Join our school bus rights contingent in the annual Disability Pride NYC parade on Sunday October 2, 2022.
