More Late Arrivals and Excessive Time

Monday, November 22, 2010 2:44:52 PM Categories: Excessive Time Late to School O.P.T.

Late arrival- bus arrival times are logged daily at all locations. Children consistently arrive late to school and miss mandated therapies scheduled for first period. Late arrivals have gotten slightly better as the year has progressed but are still a problem. Experience from past years shows that the late arrivals will pick up again when the drivers change their assigned routes on November 29, 2010.

Excessive travel time- students on bus for over mandated time periods. One student rides the bus for 2-2.5 hours on the way home every day arriving home between 5:30 and 5:45pm.  Student with limited time travel on IEP and a physician's note limiting travel time to 45 minutes still travels on bus over one hour each way. Parent was told that every limited time travel request must be reviewed by OPT physician. Parent has been told by OPT that the physician that reviews cases is only in office one day per week to review for a few hours.
