Complaints Ignored

I have a student, who because of the amount of children on his bus, gets to school at 9 AM every day. The bus must pick up and drop off students at multiple schools. We are talking about special students who need every minute that they can receive at school, and they are missing an entire period of learning and teaching each and every . . . read more »

Another ridiculously late pick-up

Today we had to take our child to school becuase the bus had not arrived. It did eventually show up at 9:00 AM! 40 minutes after school starts. Apparently a child who is picked up in Staten Island was added to the route. Staten Island is nowhere near us or our child's school, hence the ridiculously late pick-up time. We filed a complaint with . . . read more »

Does anyone know what's going on?

Yesterday our child's PM driver informed us that the AM drive will be bringing our child home today because of the parent teacher conference and early dismissal. When we asked the AM driver if this was true, he had no idea what we were talking about. So we called the PM bus company and they told us that our child will be on the AM route home. . . . read more »

Late again - still complaining

Monday, November 08, 2010 8:24:20 PM Categories: Excessive Time O.P.T.

Today our child arrived home at 4:30 PM. That's 10 minutes earlier than Friday, but still 1 hour and 50 minutes in total. Which is unacceptable. So we filed another complaint with OPT.

Today our child only took 2 hours to get home from school! That's 10 minutes faster than yesterday. We still filed a complaint with OPT.

Took a Chance

We decided to let our child take the bus today. The driver assured drop off would be at 3:40 PM. The bus did not arrive until 4:50 PM! That's a 2 hour and 10 minute ride home. We missed therapy appointment and will probably have to pay for it. Filed a complaint with OPT.

Route change madness part two

Two letters came to the house about two routes that we would be on for the week of November 1, 2010. On the morning of 11/1, neither of those, nor the bus we had been on for 3 weeks prior, had our child on their roster. I checked with the company and two of the escorts whose numbers I had. Father had to take child to . . . read more »

Taking No Chances

Today we decided to pick our child up from school after Monday's fiasco (See "Stranded Again" from 11/1/2010). When there are problems with a route, we have gone to school at pick up or drop off time to speak to the bus driver. I arrived at the school 20 minutes before dismissal time, waited, and picked up our child and left with no sign of . . . read more »

Stranded again

Today the principal called at about 3:30 PM to inform us that our child was still at school (dismissal is at 2:40 PM). The bus had still not arrived to bring our child home. The principal was very apologetic and said that there was a "mix-up" with the extended day program and that *all* the kids on the bus were still in school. Our child was ok . . . read more »

Loss of instruction time in the morning

School starts at 8:05. Arrival times on a bus whose route zigs and zags all around the city were ranging from 8:45 to 9:20 the first few weeks of school. This is despite the fact that children were stepping onto this bus as early as 7:00 a.m., that is, spending an average of two hours on their morning commute!* Now (on the fourth . . . read more »
